Praised by Menahem Pressler and Paul Badura-Skoda for her impeccable technique and artist playing, Korean pianist Jayoung Kim has established herself as a soloist, chamber musician and collaborative pianist in Asia, Europe and North America. She is a laureate of Indianapolis Matinee Musicale, Jean Francaix International Piano Competition and International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition. She participated in festivals such as Aurora, L’Academie de Lausanne de Musique, Banff, IMS Prussia Cove, Orford, Meadowmount and Innsbrook. Kim appeared as a piano soloist with conductors as Cliff Colnut, David Glover and among others.

As avid chamber musician, Kim has performed with Laurence Lesser, Lucy Chapman, Hagai Shaham, Dmitri Murrath, James Buswell, Jakob Koranyi, Lynn Chang among others. She was fortunate to have a chance to study with her mentor Menahem Pressler, Paul Badura-Skoda, Andras Schiff, Rita Wagner, Bruno Canino, John Perry, Jeremy Denk, Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell, Midori, Miriam Fried, Laurence Lesser and Janos Starker. Her live concerts were broadcasted by Espace-2 (Swizerland), Trollhatten Classic (Sweden) and CBC (Canada). She also appeared on the NPO Opium Op4 and Spiegelzaal in the Netherlands and enjoyed sharing her thoughts on music and life and live performance.

She studied at Yonsei University in Korea and received her doctorate in piano at Indiana University under the tutelage of Menahem Pressler. Her other teachers include Arnaldo Cohen, Edmund Battersby, BongAe Shin and Jeongkyu Kim. Kim has won awards from prestigious Kumho Cultural Foundation in Korea and “Friends of Music” in Indiana. As entrepreneur, she has started a chamber ensemble, “Wellesley Chamber Players,” and curate concerts together with the Wellesley Chamber Players to share their love for music and life with neighbors of Wellesley and Boston. Currently, she is teaching piano and chamber music at Dana Hall School of Music and New England Conservatory Preparatory School and is a staff pianist at New England Conservatory and Boston University.

During her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, running by the Charles river, skiing, hiking, playing board games, cooking and reading.
